Basic Information

Overview 

Korea’s largest exhibition and convention center, opened in 1979.Accommodating a variety of large domestic and international exhibitions andconferences, COEX is the nation’s best exhibition and cultural space equippedwith a global business infrastructure. It is also the center of the Korean MICEindustry, hosting more than 200 exhibitions and 2,500 international conferencesand events each year. Some of the large international conferences and eventsthat have been held at COEX include the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) in 2000, theWorld Cup Media Center in 2002, the G20 Summit in 2010, the Nuclear SecuritySummit in 2012, the UFI General Meeting in 2013, and the Convention onBiological Diversity in 2014.

 

Contents 

COEX, boasting a total floor area of 460,000 m2, home to 4exhibition halls (36,007 m2), 50 conference rooms (11,614 m2,can be divided into up to 92 rooms), various facilities, performance halls, andoffice space on its 4 floors. The Grand Ballroom, which can accommodate up to2,000 people, is a customized banquet hall equipped with the latest sound andlighting systems and modern auxiliary facilities. With the launch of New COEXMall in 2014, COEX was designated as the Gangnam MICE Special Tourist Zone, andsince SM Town COEX Artium opened in 2015, it has evolved into aculture-business platform. COEX also attracts many tourists as a sightseeingand shopping facility that houses an aquarium, a large shopping mall, hotels,and restaurants.


Accessibility 

As it is a large building for exhibitions, cultural events, andshopping, amenities for the tourism vulnerable including the disabled are availablethroughout the building. There are four accessible restrooms on the 1st floor,two on the 2nd floor, and 3 on the both 3rd and 4th floors. Nursing rooms areavailable in the two baby lounges inside Starfield COEX Mall. Wheelchairs canbe rented at the Security Center next to the West Gate, East Gate InformationDesk, and Stroller Rental Offices on the 1st floor. The Stroller Rental Officesare located at the entrance to Mega Box in Starfield COEX Mall and between theLatem and Swatch stores.
