Basic Information

[Overview]
The Seoul Museum of History is an experience-centered museum that presents the history and culture of Seoul, from prehistoric times to the modern era. It is divided into five zones: Zone 1 covers Seoul during the Joseon Dynasty, Zone 2 covers Seoul during the Open Port and Korean Empire periods, Zone 3 covers Seoul during the Japanese colonial period, Zone 4 covers the rapid growth period, and Zone 5 is the City Model Movie Theater. The museum also operates a "Touch Museum Corner," where visitors can handle replica artifacts.

[Accessibility]

The accessible entryway is wide and flat, with Braille blocks for the visually impaired installed. There are Braille and audio guides available for visitors with visual and hearing impairments. The information desk at the entrance is somewhat high for wheelchair users, but devices for subtitle support for the hearing impaired, as well as wheelchair and stroller rentals, are available. An elevator with audio guidance is installed, but its interior space is somewhat narrow, which may cause inconvenience for wheelchair users. Parking facilities for people with disabilities are available. Accessible restrooms, equipped as family helper restrooms, are located on each floor, but the lack of gender separation may cause inconvenience. There is a diaper-changing table in the family helper restrooms, and a nursing room is available under the name "Baby Rest Area."
