Basic Information

Overview

The KoreaPostage Stamp Museum was founded by the Korea Post, with its mission to make discover how the postal service in Korea has developed along the footsteps of the economic development. The exhibitions include the history and interesting stories behind stamps, and the collections of memorial stamps and rare stamps, such as the first stamp in Korea, world cup stamps, cartoon collaborated stamps. It originally opened as Postage Stamp Culture Nuri in 2008, then renamed Korea Postage Stamp Museum when reopened in 2011. 


Attractions

The museum has three exhibition halls. The Postage Stamp History Hall displays the world’s first stamps and Korea’s first stamps, and the development of the postal service in Korea, and the future of post offices.

The Postage Stamp Experience Hall consists of exhibitions and activity areas, suitable for children’s education. Through unique stamps of the world heritage sites, Nobel prizes, dinosaurs, and cartoons, visitors learn the history and ecosystem in the world. There are experiential activities as well, such as making embossing stamps, matching stamp puzzles, and taking stamp quizzes.

The Postage Stamp Information Hall displays the process of how stamps are made and how it is collected. It contains the entire collection of the stamps issued in Korea. Visitors can color the stamps with computer or navigate The Korea PostagePostal Service website.


Accessibility 

The entryway is wide and flat, and has no steps. The main entrance is flat so anyone can conveniently enter and exit. There are two wheelchair accessible elevators on the right of the main entrance. There is one accessible restroom at the entrance of the Museum. On the 4th basement floor of the building, there are parking facilities for persons with disabilities.
