Overview
Songpa Naru Park (Seokchon Lake) in Jamsil, used to be the Han River where the ferry was located, but formed into an artificial island and a creek due to the continuously piled up soil and sand. The creek was reclaimed in 1969 along with the maintenance and development of the Han River, but part of it was left as a lake and it was renovated and converted into a park in the early 1980s.
Attractions
Songpa Naru Park, along Seokchon Lake, allows to enjoy the different natural scenery of the city for four seasons. It is widely known for cherry blossoms in spring, and maple roads in autumn. In midsummer, large trees surrounding the lake are reflected in the water, giving a vivid view of the green trees. The walking trail takes about an hour from East Lake toward Lotte World Mall in Jamsil to the West Lake through the bridge that connects them. There are several attractions nearby such as the Lotte World, Bangi-dong Food Alley.
Accessibility
The entryway is wide, flat, and has no steps or raised spots. The main entrance is flat and has no steps so anyone, including wheelchair users, can conveniently enter and exit. The surface road in the park is flat and there are wooden decks so wheelchair users can access. However, there are thin and wide stones on some sections so caution is needed for wheelchair and stroller users. The Songpa Information Center is located at the East Lake and has easy access. The female and male accessible restroom for persons with disabilities is located in the cultural experiential place Hosu, separated from the public restroom. There is a diaper changing station in the accessible restroom.
