Overview
The Myeongdong Theater is a performance hall specialized in theater. From 1934 to 1973, Under the name of Myeongdong National Theater, it played a pioneering role as a cinema, performance hall and art theater in the modern Korean art scene. After three years of restoration, it reopened its door in 2009, as Myeongdong Theater. While the exterior walls of the have been preserved, the interior has been fully remodeled, and reborn as a medium-sized theater with 588 seats and the latest stage facilities.
Attractions
It presents various types of theaters such as traditional plays, experimental plays, non-verbal performances, musicals, and other theater related events as well, such as acting competitions, theater festivals, and performing arts festivals. With close distance and suitable eye level between the actors and the audience, guests can enjoy lively experience as such being part of the performance.
Accessibility
The entryway and main entrance is flat and have no steps, and tactile paving is installed so anyone, including wheelchair users, can conveniently enter and exit. The road surface is flat, and there are slopes installed at the places with stairs or steps. There is a separate ticket box for wheelchair users. The seats for persons with disabilities are at the back of the concert hall. The elevator is wheelchair accessible and has a button plate for wheelchair users. There are separate female and male accessible restrooms. The diaper changing station is in the restroom.
