Basic Information

Overview

It is a historical and cultural space where the history of Korea from the end of the 19th century to today is recorded and passed on to future generations. It is also a space where passionate and aspired people gather to talk about the future hope of the country. Guests can learn about modern and contemporary history of Korea with experiential exhibitions tailored to the children’s eye level through the children’s museum, theme halls, and history halls. 


Attractions

The museum has eight floors. It is divided into a Thematic Gallery, Interactive Gallery, History Gallery and Children's Museum. On the first floor, there is a Children's Museum, where guests can experience various studies of Korean contemporary history, and also various cultures around the world. At the Thematic Gallery, visitors can look around the main issues of modern and contemporary Korean history. There are experiential exhibitions on the values and cultural characteristics of each generation at the Interactive Gallery. In addition, various educational programs, including children's experience classes, are prepared in the museum. Guests can enjoy the views of Gyeongbokgung Palace, Bukaksan Mountain, and Inwangsan Mountain on the rooftop garden.


Accessibility

The entryway is wide and flat. The main entrance has no steps so it is convenient to enter and exit. There is a revolving door at the front entrance and there is a slope at the back entryway. Rental for strollers, wheelchairs, and audio guides for the exhibition are at the information desk on the 1st floor. There are elevators throughout the building and they are spacious. The accessible restroom for persons with disabilities is spacious, has a children holder, and is located on the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 6th floor. There are two parking facilities for persons with disabilities at the back of the building so wheelchair users can freely move around. There is a diaper changing station in the nursing room on the 1st floor next to the information desk.
