Basic Information
Overview
A municipal science center for adolescents that opened in Nowon-gu in 2017 after the completion of its construction which commenced in 2014. This is the first municipal science museum for the youth established by Seoul to enhance adolescents' understanding of basic science and to popularize science. It is a space designed to help visitors easily experience the scientific principles hidden in daily activities through the understanding and application of basic science, including the principle of levers that enables lifting large objects with a small force.
Contents
The center consists of exhibition halls on a variety of scientific topics for children and adolescents. Exhibition Hall G is a space where students can learn scientific principles in the ecological environment and urban structure through experience. Exhibition Hall O invites them to explore scientific phenomena in human life and living conditions. Exhibition Hall B provides a comprehensive understanding of scientific principles and examples from complex systems such as traffic systems, brain network, information network, and constantly changing technologies. Exhibition Hall R is a space to learn the principles of the generation, circulation, and regeneration of energy, which is the blood of the city. Exhibition Hall Y enables children to discover and experience scientific principles in their daily lives following along the passage of time. Exhibition Hall YY is a space where children can find and experience scientific principles in their daily space.
Accessibility
There are accessible parking spaces for three vehicles in the ground-floor parking lot. The main entrance and interior passages are wide and without bumps or obstacles. The elevators are spacious enough inside, but the accessble restrooms are rather narrow for electric wheelchair to turn around. Wheelchairs and strollers can be rented at the entrance.
