Basic Information

Overview

Namsangol Hanok Village was opened in 1998, by relocating and restoring five traditional Korean houses scattered throughout Namsan, the symbol of Seoul. The damaged terrain was restored to its original form in the traditional garden, and the traditional tree species of Namsan Mountain were planted. The valleys, pavilions, and ponds were restored to create a traditional-style garden as well.

Attractions

In addition to the five traditional houses, there are facilities that have been famous for its beautiful natural scenery since ancient times, such as a traditional garden, Seoul Millennium Time Capsule, and Seoul Namsan Gukakdang, the first theater specialized in traditional musicIn front of the Craft Art Gallery, there is a space where visitors can gratuitously enjoy traditional games such as Tuho, traditional game of throwing arrows into jars. Also, various events, exhibitions and cultural programs are held to experience traditional culture.

Accessibility

The entryway and the main entrance are wide with no steps, but are fairly inclined. There are slopes at the movement route in the village, but there are steps at the entrance to the traditional houses so wheelchair users cannot enter the five traditional houses. The two accessible restrooms are both spacious enough for wheelchair users. Visitors can rent wheelchairs and strollers for free of charge, and there is a nursing room
