Basic Information
Overview
Nodeul Island is a river archipelago of the Han River in Ichon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Formerly called Jungjido, it was renamed Nodeul Island in 1995. ‘Nodeul’ means ‘the stone where the white egret played’ and refers to the area around Noryangjin. Now, the entire island is a cultural complex.
Attractions
The city of Seoul purchased ‘Nodeul Island’, where people stopped visiting, and created as a cultural complex for citizens in 2019 without damaging the island as much as possible. Currently, it has been reborn as a cultural complex with the concept of music so visitors can enjoy various performances and events at 'Live House', 'Nodeul Yard,' 'Forest Multi-Hall'. The representative space of island is 'Nodeul Yard'. It is operated as an ice rink in winter, people can enjoy skating while looking the beautiful view of the Han River.
Accessibility
The entryway is even and wide and has no slope. The main entrance is broad with no steps or slopes, and is Tactile paving for persons with visual impairment so anyone, including wheelchair users, can enter and exit conveniently. Korean Braille information boards are installed at the entrance. Also, there are parking facilities and accessible restrooms for persons with disabilities, which are convenient for wheelchair users. There is an elevator with Korean braille buttons and a children's lounge where visitors can change diapers or breastfeed.
