Basic Information

Overview An art museum opened in 2009 to commemorate the artistic achievements ofGyeomjae Jeongseon (1676-1759), a renowned Joseon painter who completed therealistic Korean-style landscape (jingyeong), and to succeed and develop thestyle and culture Jeongseon, while serving as the magistrate of YangcheonDistrict (current Gayang-dong, Gangseo-gu) between the ages of 65 and 70(1740-1745), created masterpieces such as “Gyeonggyo Myeongseungcheop,” “YangcheonPalgyeongcheop,” and “Yeongang Imsulcheop.” Gangseo-gu is thus considered to bethe birthplace of the realistic Korean-style landscape that he completed.

 

Contents The museum has a total of four above-ground floors. The first floor iscomposed of the Special Exhibition Halls 1 and 2 and a shop that sells artproducts. The second floor houses the authentic realistic landscapes of Jeongseonsuch as “Sansudo,” “Cheongha Seongeupdo,” “Pigeumjeongdo,” “Joeodo,” “Gwigeoraedo,”and “Cheongpunggyedo,” and paintings by other painters from the Joseon periodsuch as Sim Sa-jeong and Jeong Hwang. On the 3rd floor, there is the YangcheonDistrict Office Room containing a reproduction of the government office from Jeongseon’stenure, a multipurpose room, and a cafeteria. After viewing the exhibitions,visitors can take a break while appreciating the view of the waterfront city onthe rooftop park on the 4th floor.

   

Accessibility Accessible parking spaces are available in the underground andground-floor parking lots. There are accessible restrooms for women (1F) andmen (3F) that are spacious enough for electric wheelchair users and equippedwith diaper changing tables. In addition, all restrooms have family restroomswith toilets for infants and diaper changing tables. A nursing room is alsoavailable on the second floor. However, the museum does not provide audioguides or sign language services for the hearing impaired, or promotionalmaterials in large fonts for the visually impaired. Wheelchairs and strollerscan be rented at the entrance.
