Basic Information

Overview 

A public complex exhibition and experience space created with the themeof “Dooly,” a dinosaur character that represents Korean cartoon and animation.This is a museum dedicated to “Dooly the Little Dinosaur,” which was regularlypublished in the monthly comics magazine Bomulseom from 1983 to 1993 andhas long been an adored by Koreans. The museum highlights the significance andvalue of “Dooly” and provides various experiences, allowing children to becomethe main characters of the cartoon and develop their imaginations.

 

Contents 

Composed of one basement floor and 3 above-ground floors, the museum islargely divided into exhibition rooms and a library. Each exhibition space isdesigned based on different episodes of the cartoon. Exhibition Room 1 is aspace for the animation film “Little Dinosaur Dooly: The Great Adventure to the Icy Planet,” which was released in 1996. The film is about Dooly and his friends’journey to the Icy Planet to rescue Dooly’s mother who is captured and put intoa crystal ball by villain Vaioking. Exhibition Room 2 displays images fromnumerous episodes of “Dooly the Little Dinosaur” that were published as aseries in Bomulseom (“Go Kildong on the Drift,” “Travel to theUnderworld,” “The Resurrection of the Mummy,” etc.). Exhibition Room 3 displaysa reproduced studio of Dooly’s creator, cartoonist Kim Soo-jung, where visitorscan learn how an animated film is created. Exhibition Room 4 is anexperience-centered playground designed based on the episode “Dooly Becomes aDwarf” in “Little Dinosaur Dooly.” The library consists of a cartoon library onthe first floor and a video archive on the second floor. The rooftop houses theSky Garden and Maze Garden.


 

Accessibility 

As there is no subway station nearby, it is more convenient for manualwheelchair users to use a car than public transportation. Accessible parkingspaces are available in the underground parking lot. Elevators, accessiblerestrooms, and a nursing room are available inside the museum. The accessiblerestrooms are spacious enough for electric wheelchair users, equipped withurinals for infants, diaper changing tables, and auxiliary chairs for children.Audio guide rental is available for the visually impaired, but a sign languageinterpretation service for the hearing impaired is not provided.
