Basic Information

Overview

This Toseong Fortress was built during the Baekje period, Hanseong in the late 3rd to early 4th centuries, and is located in Olympic Park. This ancient historical site was discovered during the construction of the sports facilities for the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Through subsequent excavation, gates, towers, grounds, ponds, and dwellings were found and restored as a historical park beloved by many people.

Attractions

Mongchontoseong Fortress has ‘Mongchon History Hall’ and a ‘Umjip Site Exhibition Hall’. At the Mongchon History Museum, excavated Baekje artifacts are on display. The ‘Umjip Site Exhibition Hall’ displays 4 sites as they were at the time of excavation. There are walking paths with green grass and trees which harmonize with yellow flowers. The paths lead visitors to the Olympic Park Outdoor Sculpture Garden and Soma Art Museum.

Accessibility

The entryway is wide and has no obstacles. The main entrance has a gentle incline which may be difficult to access for some wheelchair users. The floor surface inside has inclines which may make it difficult to move about for some wheelchair users. The information center provides wheelchair and stroller rental service. Restrooms are slightly narrow. An infant nursing room and diaper changing station are available.
