The Opera House, which is an impressive cylindrical building topped with a roof shaped like a gat (traditional Korean hat), houses three halls with different sizes and purposes. Among the three, the Opera Theater, featuring a proscenium arch, can accommodate large-scale operas, ballets, musicals, and dance performances. Of the total 2,283 seats, 20 seats are available for wheelchair users. Small operas and plays are mostly staged at the CJ Towol Theater. Of the total 1,004 seats, 10 are seats for wheelchair users. The Jayu Theater, living up to its name meaning “freedom,” is a flexible theater dedicated to small experimental performances. Of the total 221 seats, 4 are seats for wheelchair users.

Accessibility

It is a bit difficult for subway users to access the facility as it is located more than 500 meters away from Nambu Bus Terminal Station (Line 3). Accessible parking spots in the above-ground and underground parking lots are available for car drivers. The accessible restrooms are spacious enough for electric wheelchair users and are equipped with auxiliary chairs for infants. Wheelchair and stroller rental is available at the security desk on the 1st floor of the Hangaram Art Museum and Hangaram Design Museum (Hours: 10:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.). The nursing rooms are located on the 2nd floor of the Opera House and the 1st floor of the Hangaram Art Museum (Hours: 9:00 a.m.-11:00 p.m.).
