Basic Information

Overview

The Seoul Forest, built in the Ttukseom area of Seongdong-gu, was originally a horse-riding ranch and a military camp during the Joseon Dynasty. It was built as a racetrack in 1945, then was created as an ecologic park following the “Basic Plan for the Creation of Ttukseom Forest" in 2000s. Seoul Forest, which was created in an environmentally friendly manner while preserving the ecology of Ttukseom Island, where golf courses and horseback riding courses existed, is nowadays a popular park to relax for people, consisting of five themes: Culture and Arts Park, Ecological Forest, Wetland Ecology Park, Experience Learning Center, and Hangang Waterside Park.

Attractions

Seoul Forest plays an important role as one of the biggest green spaces in Seoul, where the Han River and Jungnangcheon stream meet and cross downtown Seoul. The main facilities consist of four theme parks and walking roads. There is the Eco Forest where wild animals and plants coexist and the Wetland Ecological Fields where visitors can play around in nature. It is a nature-friendly park that is constantly being reborn as a relaxing and safe place to rest for the citizens.

Accessibility

The entryway and the main entrance are broad and flat with no steps, and tactile paving is installed, so anyone, including wheelchair users, can conveniently enter and exit. There is some surface in the park covered in pebbles so caution is needed for wheelchair and stroller  users. There is a Korean braille information board and a charger for electric wheelchairs at the information desk at the entrance. Wheelchairs and strollers can be rented at the information desk. There are separate female and male accessible restrooms. The nursing room is in the library in the forest, and a diaper changing station is in the accessible restroom. There is a parking facility for persons with disabilities in the park, and public parking lots nearby as well, such as the Seongsu 1(il)-ga 1(il)-dong public parking lot.
